Brightshire Welcomes Katie Starkey-Gillett

We’re pleased to announce that this month Katie Starkey-Gillett joined Brightshire as the newest member of the team! With over 15 years’ experience, its safe to say Katie brings with her a wealth of knowledge and expertise within the accountancy sector. As an FMAAT qualified accountant, Katie has demonstrated her senior experience, skill and expertise and brings all of this to our practice and clients. We’re excited for her to get stuck in working with our team and delivering results for all of our clients.

Having worked with Suzanne in the past, Katie knows what makes us tick at Brightshire and exactly how we work. We know she understands and shares the values and ethics we hold close and is ready to jump on board!

A bit about Katie

When Katie was younger, she wanted to be a primary school teacher but after studying Business Studies at sixth form college, she found that she really enjoyed the finance module and it gave her a new direction for a career. Katie then went onto university to study a degree in Accounting and Finance. Following her graduation, she started working at an accountancy practice within the farming team.

Katie has previously managed a portfolio of agricultural clients ranging from large dairy farmers to farms that have diversified, including a variety of business structures. Katie has experience advising clients on accounts, tax, VAT and other business queries. Katie has generations of family that have had businesses within the farming industry, which has given her a passion to be an agricultural accountant. Having previously worked with Suzanne, Katie was thrilled to be given the opportunity to work at Brightshire within a growing team.

When she is not working, Katie’s time is spent with her two young boys and her husband. Katie enjoys taking her boys on days out to Chester Zoo, local parks, for walks or spending time with family and friends. Aside from spending time with her family, Katie enjoys baking from themed birthday cakes for her boys to a nice homemade treat.

We are excited to see Katie take the next step of her career with us here at Brightshire as our Senior Accountant. We hope you look forward to working with Katie, just as much as she is ready to work with all of our clients!

I have always been passionate about getting to know clients and their business in order to fully understand their business and their current/future business needs. ”
